The buy rate is what we pay you for your dollars, euros or Mexican pesos — it applies when you are selling currency. The sell rate is what you pay us to buy currency. The gap between the two is called the spread, and every exchange office, bank and app has one.

We set the rate each morning against the market and the official TRM reference rate published by the Colombian central bank, and adjust it during the day if the market moves. Every update is timestamped on this page.

Yes. The exchange rate follows the international currency market, which trades continuously, so the price can move several times in a single day. That is why we show the time of the last update next to every rate.

Compare the total, not just the headline rate — a good-looking rate with a commission ends up worse, and we charge no commission. It also helps to bring notes in good condition and larger denominations, and to message us ahead for the live rate.

No. There is no commission on cash exchange. Our margin is already in the published rate, so the total we quote you is exactly what you receive.

No. We have no minimum and no maximum: we exchange small amounts and large ones at the same published rate. The only difference with a large amount is that it helps to message us ahead so the cash is ready.

Yes, and there is no commercial cap. Message us on WhatsApp with the amount and the day so we have the cash prepared. For high-value transactions we ask for photo ID, as Colombian regulation requires.

If you have already confirmed the amount on WhatsApp, most transactions are done in under 10 minutes. Without notice it depends on counting and checking the notes, but it rarely takes more than 20.

Both. You can take your money as counted cash at the counter, or ask for a transfer to your Colombian bank account. We also accept transfers when you are buying currency from us.

Usually, for larger amounts. An ATM applies your bank's rate plus a withdrawal fee, a local ATM fee and often a foreign-transaction charge, and it caps how much you can take out per day. Exchanging cash at a published rate with no commission avoids all of those, and there is no daily limit.

Airport counters are convenient but they price that convenience into the rate. Change a small amount there for your taxi if you need to, then compare it with our board — we are a short ride from El Poblado and the centre.

Some branches do it, but not all, and it usually means an appointment, a longer wait and a rate set for the whole day rather than the current market. An exchange office is faster and quotes you live.

Yes, including small-head series from the nineties that many places refuse. Depending on the series and condition there may be an adjustment to the rate, and we tell you before closing the transaction.

In most cases yes. We check the note and tell you straight away whether we can take it and with what adjustment. We cannot accept notes with significant pieces missing or alterations that prevent us verifying them.

Yes. It is one of the most common reasons people come in: cash for travel, in good condition and with a mix of denominations so you have no trouble paying abroad. Tell us a day ahead if you need specific notes.

It is, when the office operates legally, has a physical location, issues a receipt and checks the notes in front of you. We do all four at our office in Laureles - Estadio. Avoid changing money on the street, whatever rate you are offered.

Check three things: that foreign-currency dealing appears on its RUT registration with DIAN and it can show you the document, that it issues a receipt with a tax ID (NIT), and that it asks for photo ID on the transactions the law covers. If a place avoids all three, walk away. Ours is available at the counter.

We accept a passport, Colombian ID card (cédula de ciudadanía), foreigner ID (cédula de extranjería) or driver's licence, among other valid photo ID. Bring it with you: we request it for the transactions regulation requires.

Yes, and you can check it yourself. We trade as PONTTI S.A.S., Colombian tax ID (NIT) 902.017.558-4, with the business EASY CAMBIOS registered at the Medellín Chamber of Commerce under number 83228002, and foreign-currency dealing (activity code 6615) registered on our RUT with DIAN, the national tax authority. Ask us for the RUT and the chamber certificate at the counter or on WhatsApp.
